The Ultimate Guide to Preparation: Best Ideas

You’ve undoubtedly seen something like the following on the news in the aftermath of natural disasters: people in a state of desperation fighting over the last pack of batteries as convenience store shelves empty of necessities like bottled water and granola bars. The aforementioned scenario is not ideal, but the fact that you are reading this article about emergency preparations shows that you are taking the first step towards preventing it. We will discuss the contents of emergency kits and the items you should have on hand in the event of an unexpected disaster. If you subscribe to our YouTube channel and watch our films, you may learn how to keep your family, belongings, and home secure.

Prepare for the unexpected: where to begin

One of the first things you should do is count the number of people and animals that your survival kit needs to be able to feed and water, and then figure out what supplies each of them will need. In the event of an emergency, a young adult who is not married nor has children would have quite different needs from those of a family with young children or an elderly married couple.

The second question is, what kind of sudden emergency do you foresee?

    • If you live in a region prone to earthquakes and wildfires, like the west coast, it is wise to take precautions.
    • If you happen to live in a hurricane- and flood-prone region, you should also take measures to protect yourself against unexpected floods.
    • If you reside in Tornado Alley, you should know what to do if a warning is issued.
    • Avalanches, mudslides, blizzards, and very high temperatures may also impact other areas.

Is it better to seek shelter in place (say, inside your home) or should you prepare to leave the area? Prepare a mobile survival kit that can be easily transported and stored in your car if you think it may be essential to evacuate your current location. If you spend a lot of time travelling or are worried about being unprepared at the office, you may want to invest in two smaller emergency kits—one for your car and one for your workplace.

It would be great if you could answer my queries right now. Yet, if you’d rather not, that’s OK, too. Most catastrophic disasters have a few common traits, therefore it’s difficult to go wrong by preparing for them. Read on to find out what I’m referring about and how you can be ready for it.

    Checklist

This is a good moment to look through the contents of your emergency kit, in case the coronavirus epidemic persists. Threats such as fires, floods, earthquakes, and others may damage water infrastructure and make it difficult or impossible to get clean water. Every individual in your group should have access to one gallon of clean water every day for drinking and hygiene needs (bathing and washing dishes). Liters of filtered water may be purchased at the local supermarket, but if you’re in a need, you can just fill up cleaned and reused plastic beverage containers with tap water instead.
